Pen Gallery III (Custom Design Pens)

A handcrafted pen is not only functional; they are also a unique piece of art. Here are a few samples of art that I have handcrafted from various materials including stone, burl wood, and hand cast poly-resin. These pens are some of my personal favourites and are part of my personal collection.  I hope you enjoy looking at a few of my unique handcrafted custom pens.

The Red Timex

The body of this pen is crafted from parts of a Timex watch cast in clear poly-resin. The design of the pen body provides a unique view of the internal pieces of the watch and watch face as they appear to be suspended in mid-air surrounding the pen barrel. The pen was handcrafted by me in my shop in Ashton and the blank was crafted by Marla Mills an artisan from British Columbia.

A Small Piece of Italy

The olivewood burl I used to craft this pen was brought back from a trip I made to the small rural town of San Gimignano located in the Tuscany region of Italy. The colour and grain of this piece of wood is stunning and provides lots of great memories of the olive groves from a beautiful region of Italy.

Hard as Stone

Made of green banded malachite Tru-Stone several words could be used to describe this pen such as unique, elegant or even sophisticated. Tru-Stone is made from 85% natural stone ore that is pigmented and combined with a gem resin. Handcrafted in my workshop this material is a challenge to work with but as the photo shows it is well worth the effort. When turned and polished the natural stone appearance is stunning.

The Crown Jewels

This full bodied pen makes a statement! Handcrafted in my workshop from amboyna burl this pen encompasses the beauty of a rare, exotic hardwood from Southeast Asia while highlighting the ornate detail of the sterling silver decoration on the clip, centre band and finale of the pen.
